Andrew’s 1st Prize Winning Ginger Snaps

The story behind this is that Andrew made this recipe in high school and won the award for best cookies over all of the girls in his class who were competing and they were LIVID! Now you can experience the legendary Ginger Snaps that took home 1st prize.

2/3 Cup Shortening
1 Cup Sugar
1 egg
4 T molasses
2 cups flour
2 tsp soda
1/2 tsp ginger, cloves and cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt

Cream shortening and sugar, add beaten egg & molasses. Sift flour, soda, ginger, cloves, cinnamon, & salt. Mix well.

Roll in small balls, then roll in sugar. Bake 380 degrees for 10 minutes.
